I Am Alive – Review

Have you ever been in a toy shop and witness to an impatient parent with a child in hand? In this situation the parent is usually in a hurry, looking for a present for another child but their own child can’t stay easy because there is excitement all around them. Every toy wrapped away in a brightly coloured box is just screaming at the child to grab it but once the child moves the stressed out parent berates it for not staying still. I Am Alive puts gamers in the shoes of that scolded child but it also gives them ...

Kinect Star Wars – Review

Kinect Star Wars is a great game but chances are if you’re reading this, it’s not a great game for you. Presented here are five distinct game modes, all with their own campaign, to play and although they do cover much of the Star Wars universe, it’s really only the younglings who will be able to lose themselves in this experience. The first expectation gamers will have with this title is a lightsaber mode and this is addressed right away with“Jedi Destiny” which puts players in control of Jedi padawans as they fight against the dark side. Controls for this mode ...

Lollipop Chainsaw Videos on Music & Boss Battles

We have new information on boss battles and boss battle music for Suda 51's forthcoming Lollipop Chainsaw. What is the exact soundtrack to a zombie massacre? In scoring the upcoming game Jimmy Urine (of Mindless Self Indulgence) and Grasshopper Manufacture Sound Director Akira Yamaoka had to address these types of questions. When Juliet rips through a decaying zombie torso with her trusty chainsaw, would Sleigh Bells fit better than Sinatra? Or should it be an original composition? In this behind the scenes video, Jimmy and Akira discuss the various influences that go into scoring a game with such a strong ...

Shoot Many Robots – Review

Shoot Many Robots is a deceptively clever game. On the surface it appears to do exactly what is says on the digital tin: a 2D side-scrolling shoot’em up where robots are the enemy. However as gamers progress deeper into this game, a strong number of RPG elements become apparent that transforms this game into something that is more than meets the eye. The game stars P. Walter Tugnut, a cartoon hillbilly who has been stock-piling his RV with guns, ammo and beer awaiting the robot apocalypse. When robots do rise gamers are given control of Walter as he battles his way ...

Irish Software Sales Week End 28th April 2012

A new number 1 has finally topped the charts this week in the form of Prototype 2. FIFA Street and FIFA 12 have taken 2nd and 3rd positions respectively but the biggest shock is that last week's newest release The Witcher 2: Assassins Enhanced Edition, which deputed in 3rd position in the all-formats charts, has dropped out of the top 20.  Over on the XBOX 360 charts the Witcher is still in the top 10 but only just as it holds 9th position, a far drop from the 1st position it held last week. Kinect Star Wars experienced its first drop this week but only but 1 position but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 experienced a bigger drop by falling from 10th to 16th position making this the first week since its release that it has not appeared in the top 10. Finally Mass Effect 3 had a reversal of fortunes and managed to climb from 9th to 6th position. Below is the top 10 chart in full: 1. Prototype 2 (Activision) 2. FIFA Street (EA Sports) 3. FIFA 12 (EA Sports 4. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 (EA Sports) 5. Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games (Sega) 6. Mass Effect 3 (EA Games) 7. Kinect Star Wars ...

Choice Matters in The Walking Dead

Telltale Games' The Walking Dead has received critical acclaim since its release last week for PC, PSN and XBOX Live Arcade. Based on Robert Kirkman's best-selling comic book series and graphic novels, the game made the most standout element from the source material the focus of its game: choice. In the comics, leader Rick Grimes is burdened with making difficult choices in an effort to keep his family and fellow survivors alive and this game is no different. Gamers are presented with different choices through Episode 1 and the developers have revealed in the video below that the choices made here will have effect on how the remaining story unfolds for individual gamers in the next four episodes. The Walking Dead: Episode One – A New Day is set in the world of Robert Kirkman's award-winning comic book series.  Lee Everett, a man convicted of a crime of passion, has been given the chance for redemption in a world devastated by the undead.  Players will experience life changing events, meet new characters and familiar ones from the original comic, and also visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes.   The Walking Dead offers a tailored ...

The Deadlight Diaries discusses 80s setting

The Deadlight Diaries discusses 80s setting

The Tequila Works team discusses the highly anticipated zombie game's eighties setting... and to be fair we didn’t even know it was set in the 80s to begin with due to lack of information previously available. The developers also discuss their influences ranging from books, comics and videogames so this video really gives you a good feeling of what to expect from the game. We’re certainly excited about the features discussed although we did cringe at the mention of “tons of collectibles…” Deadlight is a cinematic action-platformer with action-based puzzles. The player takes the role of Randall Wayne, survivor of an apocalyptic world set in an alternate 1980s. Taking advantage of Randall's agility, the player will overcome obstacles, dodge enemies, and set diversions. We’ll have more on this in the coming months.
