Cevat Yerli, the Chief Executive of Crytek indirectly ignited a flame of hope for TimeSplitters 4. In a recent interview with cvg.co.uk he was quoted as saying “The thing with TimeSplitters is, if we made a sequel to TimeSplitters, nobody would accept this apart from some fans, and we don’t know how big the fan community is unfortunately.”
Problem: Crytek does not know how big the TimeSplitters fan community is.
Solution: Start a petition to let Crytek see exactly how many people would throw money at a new TimeSplitters game.
A facebook group has been set up where fans of the series can show their support by “liking” the idea of a fourth game. The aim on the page is to reach 100,000 likes and while success does not guarantee that Crytek will go ahead with a fourth game, it might just be the push they need. News of a potential fourth instalment of the TimeSplitters series first broke in 2007 but very little about the game was released. While fans of the series waited patiently Free Radical Design, developers of Time Splitters, shut its doors and went into administration in December 2008… for a number of reasons. Thankfully the company was bought out by Crytek (responsible for the Crisis series of games) a few short months later in 2008. News of a fourth game existed only in rumour form since then…
