Capcom are teasing us with new character announcements for Street Fighter X Tekken, have a look at the videos and read below for our guesses.

The first teaser looks likely to be Heihachi Mishima of Tekken fame. In fairness you can’t have a Tekken game without him. We reckon the second teaser is likely to be Rolento, originally a character from the Final Fight series who made his Street Fighter debut in 1996′s Street Fighter Aplha 2.

The teasers don’t give much away and after watching them we do feel a little short-changed. To remedy this we have two longer trailers for the game below, one showing the characters in action and another which details how the controls will work. Have a look at the official game description below from Capcom and then check out the videos below to see the game in action.

“With the addition of new gameplay mechanics, the acclaimed fighting engine from Street Fighter IV been refined to suit the needs of both Street Fighter and Tekken players alike.

Dream Match Up – Dozens of playable characters including Ryu, Ken, Guile, Abel, and Chun-Li from Street Fighter as well as Kazuya, Nina, King, Marduk, and Bob from Tekken.

Real-time Tag Battle – Fight as a team of two and switch between characters strategically.

Familiar Controls – In Street Fighter X Tekken, controls will feel familiar for fans of both series.

Robust Online Modes – In addition to the online features from Super Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter X Tekken features totally upgraded online functionality and some new surprises.”

Our minds are already buzzing here at gamersireland thinking of dream matches. With the teaser for Heihachi above we immediately thought of matching him up against Akuma (whenever he is announced). However after further thought we reckon a tag team of Jin and Akuma would be better against Heihachi. As for a tag partner for Heihachi, there certainly is a lot of characters to experiment with. The game is set for release in 2012 and although we have no shortage of Fighting games to keep us occupied, we’re still really looking forward to this one.
